Indulge in the exquisite craftsmanship of our meticulously handcrafted tables, sourced from reclaimed wood found in log cabins and barns of the upper Midwest. Whether you need a console table, sofa table, entry table, accent table, or a long, narrow piece, our custom creations are crafted from single slabs of antique wood up to 15 inches in width and 8 feet in length.

Typical shipping is within 4 weeks of order and we will send pictures of your table before we box it up for shipment.

HOW TO CUSTOMIZE YOUR TABLE
1) Choose your table top size from the menu. Keep in mind that the width measurement refers to the overall width of the board measured across the underside. With these natural, tapered edge boards, the usable top surface width is generally 1" -2" less.

Custom lengths are available. Order the next size longer and indicate your specific custom length in the "Order Special Instructions" box in your shopping cart.

2) Select your height. Standard console table height is 30", counters are typically 36". Custom sizes are available, enter in the "Order Special Instructions" box in your shopping cart. Inquire about tables taller than 36".

3) We offer two leg styles, the standard "H" look or the "Angled Feet" look. "H" is the default, if you would like the angled look indicate in the "Order Special Instructions" box in your shopping cart. Legs can be painted with any of the four colors indicated. Please indicate your preference in the "Order Special Instructions" box in your shopping cart.

4) We also offer 6 finish colors, "Heritage" is the default, indicate a different color in the "Order Special Instructions" box in your shopping cart. Message us for more examples of a particular shade if you like.

A phone number where we can reach you can be very helpful. We don't share them with anybody. Sometimes there are questions that a conversation can quickly shed light on.

I want your table to be the perfect fit for your home. Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or special considerations before ordering.

Each of these century old slabs is unique and the listing photos provide a representation of the variety. They are loaded with surface features which is the appeal for many people. Expect cracks, crevices, worm holes, knots and hew marks. It's not Ikea!

A HISTORY OF OUR WOOD
Our lumber is trimmed from massive hand-hewn beams salvaged from pioneer barns and cabins in Wisconsin and Iowa. Amish crews disassemble the barns and salvage as much as they can.

Most of these barns were in use for over 100 years and saw farming change from horsepower to diesel power. As farming culture changed so too did the buildings that support it. Our wood was cut from old growth trees in the 18th and 19th century by hand saw and ax, then shaped by hand with adzes and muscle. We try to present as much of that old effort as we can.

Most all of these century old slabs have some degree of cracks and fissures. When there is a piece that might need a little reinforcement, I mortise in butterflies or dovetails or "patches". The wood for the butterflies is also antique. They are part decoration and part structural.

The butterfly joints we use are inspired by George Nakashima's furniture of the mid 20th century. Many of his pieces are in museums around the world.

We have smoothed and flattened the top surface so you can set glasses on it. Each piece is unique and has its own story and history. Like all reclaimed, upcycled, repurposed and recycled products there are flaws and cracks, axe marks and knotholes.
It's not Ikea®. It’s Spoken Wood.
